James A. Lisi is a partner and valuation expert at American ValueMetrics Corporation with over twenty-five years in executive and strategic positions in Fortune 100, Private Equity and his own personally held businesses.  His opinions of value are analytically sound, market based, and highly defensible - presented in formats and methodologies that are highly respected by the Tax Court and investors alike.

He has been valuing businesses with American ValueMetrics for more than twelve years and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), holding the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation.  He is a California state-appointed member of the California Coastal Loan Committee, a member of Premier Professionals of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Professional Advisors, Rotary International and the California Coast Venture Forum.

Mr. Lisi has taught finance in Antioch University’s MBA program, and valuation essentials to entrepreneurs at Wild Horse Labs and the California Coast Venture Forum.  Rooted in industrial engineering and acquisitions, Jim brings the structured approach of engineering analysis together with finance, economic and market principles to produce his valuations.  Where required, the reports satisfy regulatory requirements for the IRS, ERISA and DOL.

Jim started work in his family’s industrial distribution business and then began his career in aerospace manufacturing and marketing after graduating college.  In 1991 he was a U.S. delegate to Russia, Latvia and Estonia exchanging best management practices with companies following the fall of the Berlin Wall.  He then became responsible for strategic planning activities for his division in a Fortune 100 company in 1992.  In 2001, he was hired as a consultant by a private equity firm to support the initial strategic planning effort following their acquisition of a $50 million aerospace firm.   In 1997, he acquired his own company and led it for fifteen years before joining American ValueMetrics full time.  He has also served as trustee at the University of California Santa Barbara Foundation, Executive Director of a not-for-profit and has been active with several not-for-profit boards of directors, where he has served as board president, executive secretary, treasurer and finance chair.
