Responsibilities:

With limited and general direction from senior management, the Human Resources Manager oversees all aspects of Human Resources functions, promotes a high level of employee engagement, and maintains industry-specific compliance and company programs.  The Human Resources Manager shall be active in the implementation of key initiatives, as well as administering staffing, training, employee relations, compliance, benefits, and compensation programs.

 

The Human Resources Manager shall:

  • Recommend employee relations practices to establish positive employer-employee relations and promote a high level of employee morale.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and promoting a positive image of the company.
  • Interact in a positive, professional and collaborative manner at all times.
  • Provide HR advice and consultation to both management and employees, including coaching and counseling on performance management, conflict management, interpretation of policies and resolution.
  • Implement, disseminate and monitor company policies, programs and procedures concerning training, compensation, compliance, and benefits to recruit, retain and motivate employees.
  • Oversee the records and maintenance of all employee data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, PTO, performance reviews and evaluations, disciplinary actions and termination/separation of employment.  Maintain organized and compliant personnel files and other required employee records such as I-9 files, workers’ compensation information, medical files, etc.
  • Oversee the company’s compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to equal employment opportunity, unemployment compensation and any other employment-related requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and outside legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations.
  • Initiate, coordinate and manage all employment activity.  This shall include hiring, employee relations, compliance, appraisals, terminations, etc.
  • Maintain and coordinate company’s health and safety programs and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Conduct, assist and resolve any investigations regarding employee concerns or complaints and effectively handle employee complaints, grievances and disputes.
  • Actively participate in management staff meetings to guide and influence personnel-related decisions.
  • Coach and counsel managers as it relates to performance management.
  • Identify training needs and develop relevant programs as necessary.  Conduct training sessions, including but not limited to new hire orientation, classroom training and leadership sessions.
  • Perform necessary HR-related audits as needed.
  • Implement succession planning and personnel management plants to support leadership by identifying current talent and anticipate future needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

 

Qualifications/Education/Work Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 2-5 years relevant HR experience as an HR Generalist and/or HR Manager
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Exceptional communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and good judgment abilities
  • Highly proficient computer skills
